Online Classes to Cut Costs

I read an article in the Boston Globe a few weeks ago which discussed the increased desire to take classes online in order to save money.   The classes are not cheaper, it is just that students don’t have to drive to campus.  Is anyone else seeing this?  What other reasons are driving enrollment increases in online courses?
